Squarespace Pricing: How Much Does it Cost?

The Squarespace pricing structure is one of the most simple out there: The basic tier for individuals starts at $12 per month if you sign up for an annual subscription or $16 per month if you opt for a rolling membership instead. This increases to $18 per month for businesses with the annual discount and $26 per month on the rolling tariff, with more subscriptions available to those looking to use their website as a storefront. Here’s a look at how much each Squarespace account costs and what’s included, as well as some tips on how to take the service for a spin for free.

Squarespace Pricing: Free Custom Domains

The first thing we should note when reviewing the Squarespace pricing tariff is that all memberships come with a free custom domain when taken out on an annual basis. Customers on a monthly rolling subscription aren’t, however, eligible for the free domain and will need to either register one through Squarespace or a different service like Google Domains. We recommend shopping around as from our experience Squarespace tends to charge a premium for buying the domain through its service due to the added convenience of having it there, ready to use.

Squarespace Pricing: Free Trial

Something else worth mentioning before we dive into our comprehensive Squarespace pricing breakdown is that all of the following memberships are available with a two-week free trial, so you can take them for a spin before handing over a dime. In fact, you don’t even need to enter credit card information to start a Squarespace free trial. Because Squarespace isn’t free though, you won’t be able to set your website live in the trial phase, nor will it be discoverable through Google. Visitors will need to enter a password too, but it’ll let you get a feel for the software.

Squarespace Pricing: Personal

Priced at $12 per month on an annual subscription (billed at $144) or $16 per month on a rolling membership, the Squarespace Personal account offers everything you need to create your own basic website, ideal for use as a blog or portfolio. You’ll receive a SSL certificate, unlimited bandwidth and storage space, a built-in SEO suite for optimizing content, access to all the free templates for Squarespace in the in-house database, the option to add two contributors, basic analytics tracking for website visits, and use of Squarespace extensions.

Squarespace Pricing: Business

The next step up, the Squarespace Business subscriptions offers access to all of the above, but bumps the maximum number of contributors up from two to unlimited, and sees a personalized Google Suite email address, customization with CSS and JavaScript, more advanced website analytics, up to $100 in Google Ads Credits, pop-ups and banners, and basic e-commerce functionality with a 3% transaction fee added to the mix. All of this costs only $18 per month if you sign up for a year (billed at $216) or $26 per month on a rolling contract.

Squarespace Pricing: Basic Commerce

For those looking to focus on the online transaction side, there’s the Squarespace Basic Commerce subscription. This, again, offers access to the same suite as the Business Membership, but sees the transaction fee cut to 0%, adds the option to sell in-person through a mobile application, the facility for customers to create accounts, on-site checkout (they aren’t redirected to a payment provider), and a built-in limited availability labels for products to add a sense of urgency. This costs $26 per month on an annual term (billed at $312) or $35 per month, rolling.

Squarespace Pricing: Advanced Commerce

Last, we have the Squarespace Advanced Commerce membership. No surprises here, but this one offers everything above, but sees some more stuff added to feature set: Abandoned cart recovery, the option to sell subscription services with automated recurring billing, real-time advanced shipping calculations at checkout, advanced discounts that apply to qualifying orders at checkouts, and access to the Squarespace Commerce API for enhanced automation. Pricing here starts at $40 per month annually (billed at $480) or $54 per month, no fixed term.
